The next size up in children's aprons is at least 60 cm long and fits kids from primary school age right through to their teens. For comparison: aprons for adults are around 90 cm long. So that the apron can be worn for as long as possible, choose a model with an adjustable neck strap. Thanks to the stepless adjustment to the child's current height, an apron like this keeps a perfect fit for years. That not only makes wearing it fun, the well-adjusted fit also protects clothing as effectively as possible.

One thing is beyond question: children will only really enjoy wearing their aprons if they like the way they look. Even solid-color children's aprons glow in strong colors and show little of the elegant simplicity that cooking aprons for adults can radiate. Individual designs featuring the child's name are especially appealing for kids' aprons. Alongside the loving design, a personalized children's apron above all offers practical advantages when cooking, baking or painting in larger groups. Whether at kindergarten, at school, in a holiday group or at a birthday party, it is immediately clear whose apron is whose and what the child you are working with is called. Names are ideally embroidered, though a print works just as well. Many suppliers can also print other individual pictures or characters on children's aprons exactly as you wish.

What to look for when buying

Experience shows that children's aprons have to be washed far more often than cooking aprons for adults. One important point is therefore choosing a robust, easy-care fabric that can be washed at 60 °C without any trouble. The expected high washing frequency should also be taken into account when it comes to prints. Names or lines of text that are embroidered are considerably more durable and, as a rule, do not fade as quickly at 60 °C as printed letters.

A robust kids' apron is usually made of pure cotton with a fabric weight of 260 g/m2. Some models also use synthetic fibers or wax coatings, which make the material water-repellent and easy to wipe clean. That is particularly interesting if the children's apron is going to be worn for painting with watercolors.
